Recently we were featured in EagleBrooke Life’s December edition as Sponsor of the Month. We had to put into words Acu-Temp’s story and what makes us different. The article is listed below and tells you why we really do care about your air!

Over 32 years ago, our father, Jim Gengler, decided it was time to leave Sears Home Services and start his own air conditioning business. He wanted to create something to pass down to his boys — something we could be proud of. Building an air conditioning company in his hometown of Lakeland seemed like a good plan.

Since 1984 Acu-Temp Heating and Cooling has grown from one to nearly 40 employees. But just because we got bigger doesn’t mean that we forgot where we started. As a family-owned and operated company, we value the quality over volume when it comes to our service and the products we provide to our customers. We know how important it is for our customers to feel that they can trust us. We would never charge them for something they didn’t need. We pride ourselves on having a third party verification to ensure that we are licensed, insured, and trustworthy — background checks are done on every technician, so you can feel safe allowing us into your home.

As brothers growing up in Lakeland, we have always valued its small-town feel. That is what made us stay here to continue the business our father started. We also love fishing, hunting, and pretty much anything outdoorsy — there is plenty of that in Polk County. But what’s really important is that Lakeland has something that many cities lack: the feeling of community. It is this same feeling that we encourage by promoting other local businesses that also value quality over quantity. We also try to promote this in our company culture through employee events, work anniversary bonuses, and commendation for good, hard work!

Not only did we grow up loving Lakeland, but we also grew up loving keeping cool through the great air conditioner. From a young age our father taught us the ins and outs of the air conditioning system, how to install them, take them apart, and put them back together. So, not only did we learn a trade, but also we were also able to bond with our father. That is why it made perfect sense for us to continue growing the business, expanding to include commercial new construction services since 2004. Now we are able to help our customers in their homes and in their place of businesses as well. One of our commercial jobs that we are especially excited about is the new Posto 9 restaurant going up in downtown, so you can be sure that it will be nice and cool in there!

Overall we are so thankful for the wonderful opportunity that has been passed down to us from our father. We hope to continue building the Acu-Temp name in our community to be one that people can trust and respect. By winning The Ledger’s “Best of the Best” Air Conditioning Company in Polk County, we definitely have a lot of customers who already feel that way. — Aaron & Justin Gengler
